Tulane University seeks a Professor of Practice in Hebrew language, starting July 2018. Professors of Practice are members of the faculty whose primary assignment is instruction and activities related to instruction. Initial appointment is for a three-year term, and while not eligible for tenure, Professors of Practice have the opportunity for promotion and may be offered renewable appointments after completion of a second term. The chosen candidate will teach a 3-3 course load across all levels of Hebrew, will coordinate the Hebrew program, and may have the opportunity to teach cultural content courses in Hebrew.
Tulane University Jewish Studies is an interdisciplinary department, bringing together faculty from across the university. Student demand is strong, and we offer a major, a minor, and study abroad opportunities in Israel and Europe. The chosen candidate will play a key role in the growth and development of the department.
Successful candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field as well as a record of excellence in teaching and scholarship.
